Ear Shaping (Otoplasty)
At Aesthetique, we treat various ear conditions by different types of surgical procedure.
(1) Cosmetic ear surgery
It is also known as Prominent ear, Bat ear correction, Pin back Otoplasty or Ear pinning. In this plastic surgery procedure the large ears or the ears that protrude too far from the head are pinned back. This procedure can greatly enhance a person's appearance and self-esteem.
Candidacy:
  • Most cosmetic ear surgery patients are children between the ages of four and fourteen.
  • It is also an excellent option for adults who have large, protruding ears or stretched earlobes.

Procedure:
  • Anesthesia: For adults, local anesthesia or sedation is preferred. In children, general anesthesia is preferred, as children are less likely to remain still during the procedure.
  • Duration of procedure: It takes about 1 to 2 hours for the procedure.
  • Incision: It involves a small incision in the back of the ear, sculpting the cartilage to reshape the ear, excess skin is removed and then stitches are used to pin the ear into a more pleasing shape. In most cases, the surgery leaves behind only a small scar, which will fade with time.
