Breast Lump Removal
Scarless Removal of Breast lump/Fibroadenoma Removal
This procedure is performed to either diagnose or treat an abnormal lump in the breast. Breast lumps are very common. Most women will experience one or more breast lumps at some time in their lives. Also, these are commonest in the age group under 30years.

Traditionally these scars are treated by general surgeons who remove the lumps through direct incisions on the lump. These leave behind undesirable scars. Permanent tell tale signs for a temporary problem at a young age on an intimately important part of the body.
Reasons to Perform Lumpectomy:
  • If you have fibroadenoma or other benign tumors of the breast.
  • If you have a fluid-filled lump (cyst).
Procedure :
  • Anaesthesia: It can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia.
  • Duration of Procedure: It takes about 1/2 to 2 hours. (Depending on the size and number of lumps)
  • Incision: Fine semi- circular one around the nipple which is barely visible and fades with time.
Recovery:
  • The recovery period is very short for a simple lumpectomy.
  • Can take a shower the day after.
  • Avoid activities causing excessive sweating for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Self dissolving stitches – so no need to remove the stitches.
  • The stitches are sub-dermal i.e. none of the stitches are on the skin.
Duration of results :
  • The outcome of a lumpectomy depends on the type of lump found, and whether or not it is cancerous.
  • The biopsy report is usually available in 5- 7 days.
  • The scar fades away leaving behind no tell tale marks of having had a procedure.
